In the Candidates Forum on Service, John McCain answered a question on the respective roles of private and public sector response in the wake of emergencies like Katrina by suggesting that corporations like Target and FedEx would always do a better job than government, as though FEMA mismanagement of Hurricane Katrina had absolutely nothing to do with the rank cronyism pervading the Bush Administration.
It might be true that private corporations can run more efficiently than the government, but this especially true when the government is run by people who think the government shouldn’t be running things. Heck of a job, Brownie.
